We’ve reworked how income works, made the rifle more important in the late game, and lots more!
January 5th – Netherlands – Today we’re wishing everyone a very Happy New Year with a big update!
Update 0.2 brings significant changes to the game balance and lots of smaller quality-of-life changes. We’ve slowed down the movement of enemies, making it easier to shoot them before they reach the Drill Core. But once they get there, they do A LOT more damage. This modification makes it easier and more important to kill them before they reach the core while reducing the amount of time spent shooting at multiple attacking enemies on the core, which many players did not experience as being fun.
See the full changelist below:
Changes:
- Enemies have become slower but will do (a lot) more damage to the core. This makes it easier and more important to kill them before they reach the core, while reducing the amount of time spent shooting at multiple attacking enemies on the core, which many players did not experience as being fun.
- Increased how fast the amount of enemies and spawn rate of enemies increase each wave. This should make the game become more difficult slightly faster after wave 4 and much faster after wave 10.
- We’ve reworked the income system. Income now consists of a base income that increases each wave (300 at the start, 50 extra each wave) plus a bonus income that increases exponentially by upgrading the core.
- Upgrading the core now also increases its HP.
- Increased weapon damage increases per level from 15% to 20%, but decreased reload and chambering speed increases from 10% to 5% per level. This keeps the rifle more relevant into the late game when upgraded, as headshots remain one-hit-kills for longer.
- Increased the max level of turrets, core, and weapon from 10 to 20. This will become unlimited in a later update.
- Building a turret now needs to be confirmed with Left Mouse Button or canceled with Right Mouse Button. Releasing the 1 or 2 keys will no longer confirm or cancel the building.
- Turrets’ Info Displays now rotate towards the player when they’re close, making it easier to read.
- Added a second Info Display to the Core, making it easier to see its stats.
- The player’s horizontal velocity now slows down while jumping/falling, resulting in a more natural falling arc.
- Increased player control while falling from 0.05 to 0.1, allowing players to aim where they fall while mid-air more easily.
- Players can no longer sprint while chambering, reloading, or aiming down sight.
- Added a Quit Match confirmation prompt.
- You can now also press P to open the menu. This is in preparation for a pause game functionality while the menu is open, which will be added in the next update.
- You can now see the build version in the main menu.
- Added signposting around the rig to clarify which stories allow construction of turrets and which are best for the rig’s defense.
- Many art improvements: Added more alien props and improved the realism of the oil rig by adding additional support, an additional platform, and a sunken platform.
- Enemies’ glowing parts now fade when killed, making it easier to distinguish between alive and dead enemies.
- Reworked the in-game music system to be a lot more dynamic.
- Building a turret in an incorrect location now gives an error SFX.
- Added a breathing SFX system during gameplay, based on player actions.
- Added bullet SFX when hitting metal.
Bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue where the wave would end before all enemies were killed.
- Fixed an issue where dead enemies near the core would still do damage.
- Enemies will no longer disappear when a wave ends.
- Pressing Right Mouse Button while in building mode will no longer trigger ADS.
- Player camera will no longer float on the water at the start of the game.
- Fixed certain menu buttons not making sounds.
